Trip back home ♥

Second week back, went for a spur-of-a-moment trip up to Malacca with a few sec school mates. Been ages since I last caught up with them. We were the few chinese girls in class back in Form 4 and 5 but boy were we noisy! Definitely made our prescence felt :P Went there since I was craving for some good Malaysian food and there were Yeeseen and Rachel to bring us around having staying there for quite some time now.

Had to queue up at the chicken rice place. Obviously a big hit hence a "must go".

I came, I saw, I ate.
From LTR: Chicken rice ball (they look like fish balls) with assam fish head, layered cake which according to Yeeseen was "orgasmic" and chendol!
Was quite a good trip catching up with them but the weather was sweltering hot and Malaccan traffic is insane.
Did I mention that it was the durian season when I was back? But I haven't been much of a durian fan of late cos it makes me really heaty among other reasons like smelly breath and smelly fingers(so I resort to eating them with a spoon if I have to eat them. Quite ridiculous I'd say). And everytime I tell my parents that I don't really fancy them, they'll dish out that same old story over and over again. Back when I was still a toddler or so, there was once when I saw everyone else eating durians, I was so adamant in having some of it that they had no choice but to give in and gave me some but I ended up with horrible diarrhoe the next day. Obviously I have no recollection of that incident at all but gotta take their word for it since there are like 5 of them at home against me.
Disclaimer: It's not like I find durians totally revolting and wouldn't stand within 10 feet from them or something, just that I CHOOSE not to eat them because of the reasons mentioned above. And by no means does that make me an anti-durian or worse, un-Malaysian.
Next up, trip to KL with my primary school gang :)

Yue Yin, Robin, Alvin, Chong Wee and me .

Was good to have a get together since Alvin, Chong Wee and myself were back and before Robin and Yue Yin leave for US. There were some others who couldn't join us for some reasons so it was quite a let down.

Did some shopping, caught a few shows(all horror =_=) and sang K. I don't usually sing when we go out for "cheong K" but that time round I think I kinda enjoyed myself.

Robin, Chongwee and me. Robin used to get bullied big time by me (sat next to him) and Yue Yin(behind him). Not the caused-him-emotional-trauma kind but it was really just some good natured kinda bickering and fighting over silly stuff. Chong Wee is the brainiac of our group. He used to get first from every single examination back then. Guess who was second? hehe. Alvin sat next to me too and I quarrelled even more often with him since we were both stubborn and petty really. That was back in P6 and we were forced to sit with boys. We also got to switch lanes every week so that everyone had an equal chance to sit in the good seats(under the fan) and also the bad seats( right at the side where it was warmer) since there were bout 50 of us in class.

Chong Wee bought some shades back for us and we had fun with them!

The flash was there to make it look more like a paparazzi shot photo.

-_-'''

Me and Yue Yin.
Oh yeah and we went to this really famous mamak place at SS2 called Murni's. They have really yummy assorted roties, claypot low shee fan and the drinks too! Ok la, although to KLites it's nothing to shout about or they think mamak like this is like a dime a dozen too many but I've been a jakun Johorean, Kluangite to be precise, who stays in a mud hut and frolics with bats for too long and didn't know better ok? And KL is like the Mecca of night life and mamak so yeah, you get the picture.
Really enjoyed the company of this bunch of friends. We've known each other since 9 so that's 11 years of friendship already. It's when I really let down my inhibitions and laugh over every little silly thing, kutuking each other incessantly. It's not easy remaining tight after so many years, there are times when one of us will break away from the group so it takes conscious two way effort to stay in touch. Oh well, so glad to them in my life.
Check out this really cuckoo video. Took it at Midvalley and it was early in the morning but there was already a crowd around the shop.

Went back to Kluang during weekends. Kluang changed quite a bit. For starters, we have a cineplex there now!! Finally! Rejoice Kluangites for it'll be THE hang out place from now! And there's a new Kluang Station coffeeshop ala big city shopping centre ie with a proper shoplot, air conditioning , with nice deco and all. Rustic kopitiam style coffee shops are like in vogue these days, trying to cash in on those nostalgic big city dwellers and their "ooo that place looks like my grandma's house" moments. I mean no doubt they do serve good coffee and yummy food in a "comfier" environment but I still prefer the old school Railway station kopitiam anytime where we had to jostle with the crowd to get a table even at 8am in the morning and had to share table with strangers from time to time. We even met this family who took the train from Kulai (somewhere near JB, perhaps an hour or two away) just to sample the ever famous Kluang station coffee.
Then on my last week, headed to Singapore for a couple of days.
Went to Peijun's workplace at Bukit Timah. After catching up with her, I realized she really changed a bit since working there. Guess it's inevitable especially with scroundels for employers.
And when I boarded a bus from a bus stop opposite HCI where there were heaps of uni/poly and HCI students there, the driver actually closed the door on me!!! It was quite painful ok cos it hit my head as well. Walao the ultimate pissifying and embarrassing moment!! The driver looked so apologetic that I couldn't bring myself to cuss shout at him. Not that I intended to also lah, haha. But the HCI boys who boarded before me were laughing at something I wonder if it was at me. HMMPH!!

Hello there! You look really familiar!

Caught up with HACOFOS finally. Went to Din Tai Fung at Raffles City. Was really a hard time trying to plan for this meeting with them busy with work and orientation and all.

Milo! Our staple break item back then together with nuggets or "dou sha bao" or yam "bao". Jo bought them. I'm not gonna drink mine.

Our xiao long bao toast.

Who could forget neoprints? Been ages since we took the last one!

On the way to Esplanade, me and Jo decided to grab the distraught looking girl's cup.

Nothing beats having a mug of cocoa laden and (a bit too) rich hot chocolate while catching up on everything. Wish we could do that more often though. Miss you all girls!

The next day, went in to Singapore again. Good thing my Christofu drove us in or else we'll have to be eating dust and fighting crowds and stand in line for ages. Hehe... think I've been spoiled by my dear too much..

Hello there, stinky school! Literally. The toilets stink most of the time. Went to collect our SGC and A Level cert since we had to check if there were any amendments to be made. The school that was both heaven and hell at the same time. Nah, I don't wanna start reminiscing about old times in Sg right now.
Went to NUS as well. Wanted to get some text books since it's definitely cheaper to buy there compared to over here. It's even cheaper in KL. NUS campus is really huge but I don't like it. Prefer AU's anytime. Hehe...

We were being the cheesy couple with matching colours!! It was totally unintentional ok? Come on, that will be the last thing to expect from me OKAY??!! And it happened quite a number of times already. It has gotta be telepathy.

Went over to Spageddies. Food there's really yummy! Dear's always acting "dao".

Especially their Italian chocolate cake!!!! To die for really.

*sniffles* :P Dear's wishing for me to not go back that often. Hehe...

Shopped a bit over at Sg too. As usual the GSS wasn't GREAT at all. Might be cos I went there late la. Tsk.

Was really fun hanging out with my ChrisTofu. Good thing I have him in JB or I'll really just die of boredom. He's forever being sweet and tolerant , willing to be my chaffeur anytime and also bringing me around to sample the best JB has got to offer. Miss you dear!!

At Changi airport. Me doesn't want to go back. My, that's really an ugly face.

Goodbye for now. See you again really soon =]
